DCLI Services (Until March 31st)

1. Study Rooms 

Due to the current health emergency, Study Rooms will be unavailable for checkout and reservations.The keys have been removed from the Service Center Desk. The Law Library will not lend Study Room keys through at least March 31, potentially longer if necessary. The Study Rooms will be left unlocked, and students can use them on a first-come, first-serve basis.
2. Other Changes to Services 

Effective Monday, March 13, 2020 to Tuesday, March 31, 2020 (subject to change/extension)

  1. Circulation and/or returns of printed materials is suspended (Not including course reserve books). As staff is available, reasonable portions of printed materials will be scanned and emailed to patrons.
  2. There will be no collection of fines associated with borrowing DCLI materials until after March 31.
  3. Students can self-serve paper and staples in the Print Center. Printer paper is located in the cabinets or Room 118A, under the print release stations. Staples are keep near the staplers in Room 118A. Both staples and paper are accessible to law students. Likewise, students are expected to empty hole punches as needed in nearby trash or recycling receptacles. Contact with any computer/printer/scanner issues in the Print Center.
  4.  Please only email or call library personnel, no visits to offices. The Center will practice what has already been requested by Duquesne University, The School of Law, CDC guidelines, as well as those announced by Allegheny County, which says “practice social distancing, try to stay 6 feet away from others”. Subsequently, we respectfully request that students please do not visit, or enter Law Library personnel offices. You are welcome to send email, phone, or if necessary, arrange a Zoom virtual meeting session.

4. Course Reserves

  1. Reserve materials generally consist of materials placed on reserve by faculty members for the use of students in a particular class. Please ask your instructor if they can scan any course materials, like required class readings, and share with your via Blackboard or email.
  2. Reserve materials (Course Texts, Exams, and Files) may be checked out for two hours. Availability of these items may change, with any potential escalation of the COVID-19 emergency. Contact your instructor about making these materials available to you electronically through Blackboard or email.
  3. You can search for course reserve materials by instructor name or by course name.
  4. Faculty members who are interested in scanning course reserve materials that are currently available in print should contact Chuck Sprowls (412.396.1133).
