The below summarizes the summer and graduate access programs offered by Thomson Reuters (Westlaw and Practical Law), Lexis+, and Bloomberg Law.
Students can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them if you are billing a client. You don’t need to do anything to keep using these tools over the summer. If you have questions, please contact our Thomson Reuters Academic Account Manager.
You will have access to Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, for 6 months after graduation. Your “Grad Elite” access gives you 60-hours of usage on these products per month. While you cannot use this free access if you are billing a client, you can continue to use Thomson Reuters products to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for your bar exam. You don’t need to do anything to keep using Lexis+ over the summer, and there are no usage restrictions. If you have questions, please contact our Account Manager.
All law students have automatically extended access for 6 months after graduation. Access for new graduates doesn’t require any special registration. There are no restrictions (except for public records access) and no limits on your research time.
Bloomberg Law offers students unlimited and unrestricted access to your Bloomberg Law accounts for any purpose, anytime, anywhere, including for use over the summer. You also have automatic access to your account for 6 months after graduation.
